The 1800s were hailed as the “European century” due to world-spanning empires originating from the small continent. The following century saw the rise of a former European colony, the United States, and its economic and cultural domination remained unrivaled until the historic rise of China during the second decade of the twenty-first century. The common belief is that this will lead to an “Asian century” where China and potentially some of its neighbors will rule the world politically, economically, and culturally.
Take one look at a world fertility map, and one thing becomes immediately apparent: Africa is leaving everyone else behind in births. The entire continents of North America, South America, Europe, and Oceana have fertility rates mostly below replacement level (with some exceptions), while several African countries are popping out over 6 babies per woman, with Niger taking the gold at 7.57!
